My wife is looking for an expert in the field of green meetings to participate in a panel discussion. Please let me know if you are interested or if you have a recommendation of someone who would be interested.

A great article and GP National business
Hello all,
I was cleaning my house yesterday, (believe it or not, it does happen),
and I found this great article. I am not sure if I shared it before, but
I thought that I would share it again because it is timeless.
http://www.prisonactivist.org/archive/cws/dr-culture.html
Also, there is a vote coming up about limits on post to the National
listserv.
I was not sure if we had a similar limit on our own list serv. I know
that I try to keep posts one per day (sometimes two, but no more than
three).
Was not sure what you all think, so please give feedback:

Thanks,

Thank you for re-electing me!
Hello all,
I wanted to thank all of you for re-electing me as your GPUS delegate. As I have said before, I am happy to serve the GPMN as your voice to the National Green Party.
I wanted to remind everyone that information upcoming proposals are found here:
http://green.gpus.org/cgi-bin/vote/index
It is helpful for us that you give us input about upcoming proposals so that we can best choices when voting. You can use this blog to give us input:
http://www.gpmnnationaldelegate.blogspot.com/
Finally, I am willing to go to the National Convention in North Carolina, but I need funds to do so. Please consider donating to have our voice be brought to the national convention.
Please send checks to Farheen Hakeem 3315 Elliot Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55407. Yesterday, we raised $83.00 just from passing the hat! It costs $130.00 to register for the convention, and $240.40 for airfare.
Thank you again.
Serving as you GPMN delegate for another 2 years,
Farheen Hakeem

online voting proposal
Dear delegate blog,
I see that Tony is the only one voting yes to online elections for officers of the GPUS. Voting yes seems quite natural and frankly, quite simple. Aside from the argument for waiting for a better proposal to come along, I see no reason to delay this inevitable improvement in the status quo. How often do we get to vote for greater democracy, after all?!
I support Tony's vote, and would like to understand the votes of others.
Yours, Bill Oldfather

online voting
Dear Delegate Blog,
I see that Tony voted and I am in consensus with his votes as of this Sat. afternoon. I also see that David Strand is voting no to Online Voting. This vote is a significant change to the status quo, and I hope we all see this as an important vote. My view remains that this is primarily a vote to include more delegates in the selection of our leadership. I understand the value of meeting in person and I also understand the age-old argument of voting no now and voting yes to an improved proposal. Mostly I'm typing this because I always try to vote in solidarity with David since he's one of the smartest people I know. I would like to hear his views on this one and would encourage our three voting delegates to call him.

upcoming votes
Dear Delegate Blog,
I would like to discuss the upcoming votes which are due on this coming Sunday. These four votes are all on the easier side.
The voting page is http://gp.org/cgi-bin/vote/index
Resolution Against the Death Penalty involves the current stance of the Green Party of Mexico. Other national Green Parties tend to have more conservative positions because they are often working in coalitions with other parties. I would have our delegation vote yes which would be saying no to the death penalty and would be distancing ourselves from Mexican Greens on this one issue. Those voting no argue for solidarity and understanding.
Online Elections is a tougher vote. This would preclude having elections for GPUS officers at the annual conventions. I would have us vote yes. This would free up the agendas at the national meetings and mostly would be a vote for greater democracy or "one Green one vote". It also would allow voting by delegates without the financial resources to attend the annual meetings. There has been argument for having an on-line vote during the annual meeting with delegates at the meeting voting as we always have historically, and I would argue that that could be implemented with a subsequent resolution.
The other two votes are ranked votes for both the House Campaign Committee and Senate Campaign Committee. The number of candidates are less than or equal to the number of positions so I recommend that we vote for them all and rank them by biographies and, if desired, by sex, sexual orientation, geography, and race.
There is a resolution currently under discussion with a vote due on April 19th, which would disband the International Committee due to lack of following correct procedure. This appears harsh to me and I'll probably recommend that we vote no, but I'm hoping to see a voice of compromise arise in the now fresh and heated on-line banter, or better yet, a withdrawal of the resolution. So more on that later. Happy voting to fellow delegates!

We are back in action!
Hello all! Welcome back to us blogging to the GP Minnesota about GPUS issues.
Welcome Tony, Ryan, and Paul. Welcome back David and Bill!
OK, let's start the ball rolling with a discussion on Annual National Meeting
The proposed meeting will take place either on July 23-26 or July 16-19, 2009, at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina.
So, should we go? Should we fundraise for people to go? Who should go? There are now 3 delegates and 3 alternates.
Please provide input - happy blogging!
